Breakthrough for Ebola: Two Drugs Show 90% Survival Rate1

Over the past year, nearly 1,900 people have been killed due to Ebola, however, starting last November, four experimental drugs have been used in an unprecedented clinical trial in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Two of the four drugs were effective that up to 90% of Ebola cases can now be considered treatable. The results from the trial showed that death rates dropped to 11% with mAb114 and 6% with REGN-EB3 compared to the previous standard of care, ZMapp with 24% and 33% with remdesivir. These two drugs with lower mortality rates, are the future of the current Ebola crisis.
