Constipation:
A Neglected Condition?

Constipation is a common gastrointestinal disorder which adversely impacts the quality of life of patients and creates significant economic burden for the society such as increasing absenteeism from work and/or school. In order to share the current updates on management of constipation and to discuss on clinical difficulties faced by clinicians in Asia-Pacific region, a regional webinar titled “Constipation: A Neglected Condition?” was organised on 24th April, 2021. The event consisted of an interactive polling section on clinical issues, a lecture provided by Prof. Justin Che-Yuen Wu on management of constipation and a discussion section on prevalence and treatment gaps in chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) moderated by an expert panel. Fruitful sharing among clinicians from various countries/regions in Asia-Pacific was generated during the event.
