Erectile dysfunction can reduce sexual intimacy and negatively influence the psychological well-being in both the affected men and their partners. Besides, erectile dysfunction can be an early sign of cardiovascular disease, especially in younger men. A population-based prospective cohort study was conducted to assess the association between healthy diet and erectile dysfunction in men. Among 21,469 men included in the analysis, men who had the greatest adherence to Mediterranean dietary pattern were less likely to develop erectile dysfunction compared with men who had the lowest adherence. This cohort study suggested that men who are concerned about erectile dysfunction risk should be counseled regarding the potential contribution of their dietary patterns.
