Protects Your Heart with Less Red Meat while More High Quality Plant Food

Meat lovers, who have frequent consumption on red meat, especially processed red meat like bacon, sausages and salami, are proven to have raised risks of major chronic diseases, including coronary heart disease (CHD). A US study revealed that substituting red meat with high-quality plant food such as beans, nuts or soy could modestly reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. 43,272 US men, who aged 53 years on average and were free from cardiovascular disease and cancer, were recruited to complete a detailed diet questionnaire every four years from 1986 to 2016. The result suggested that consuming dietary components such as whole grains, dairy products, eggs, soy, nuts, and legumes lower the risk of CHD in men, in comparison with total, unprocessed, or processed red meat. Hence, limiting red meat consumption while replacing with plant protein sources can be beneficial to your heart.
